Social media has been on fire with reports from the previous shows of this tour, so we were excited to catch Raveneye and SKAM again.

The opening act of the evening were Dead Shed Jokers, a South Wales based 5 piece alternative band who have graced the stage of festivals like Steelhouse. Their hard, heavy guitar driven songs were a good way to start the evening off with a little humour included with a track about “that well known holiday destination, North Korea”.

Dead Shed Jokers are:

Hywel Davies - Vocals

Nick Bryant  - Guitar

Kristian Evans - Guitar

Luke Cook      - Bass

Ashley Jones - Drums

Next up were SKAM, this three piece outfit from Leicester have been making waves with the release late last year of their concept album, The Amazing Memoirs of Geoffrey Goddard. The crowd were really looking forward to their set. Starting off with the ‘Prologue’ sound clip from their latest album the band takes the stage, striking up ‘Between The Eyes’. Neal Hill (Drums) sets the tempo, Matt Gilmore (Bass) adds depth to the bottom line in his own distinctive and animated way and Steve Hill (Guitar/Vocals) crowns it off with well crafted guitar work and brilliant vocals.

Their relatively short set highlighted why they are fast becoming recognised as ‘One’s To Watch’ in the UK rock scene. Their set list consisted of a great mix of tracks from their 3 albums, ‘It’s Come to This’, ‘Peacemaker’ and their latest ‘The Amazing Memoirs of Geoffrey Goddard’. It’s clear to see that these guys are enjoying every moment on stage, engaging in light banter with the crowd and taking time to show their skill and talent in the little solo moments that they all have.

With the room actually vibrating with the bass as Raveneye take the stage you knew this was going to be a loud set. The crowd welcomed this power trio to the stage with a typical Globe welcome and the band wasted no time in starting things off with ‘Hate’. The foundations of the venue must have been shaking with the powerful drums and bass of Adam Breeze and Aaron Spiers. Oli Browns guitar was from the very start, effortless and mesmerising, add this to his sublime vocals and this was going to be good.

Raveneye don’t just perform they entertain, both Oli and Aaron using the stage to its max. Adam stands on his kit to whip the crowd into a frenzy to join in with ‘Hey Hey Yeah’ whilst Oli takes to Aaron’s shoulders for the guitar solo and they wander around the floor amongst the amazed crowd. Oli continues the acrobatics as he climbs onto Adam’s kick drum to perform ‘You’re a Lie’  jumping down to climb the speaker stack to play the solo. The crowd are loving every moment of this.

Taking the tempo down Adam steps out from behind the kit to join Oli and Aaron on acoustic guitar for ‘Eternity’ a song that is goosebump inducing, sang with power and feeling. Unfortunately for us the night had to come to an end, with the guys wrapping things up with ‘You Got This’ with Adam on top of one speaker stack, Aaron on the opposite one and Oli standing on the kick drum again, taking time to thank his band mates, the crowd for coming out and the staff of The Globe for getting the party started on a “school night”. Raveneye once again put on a show that left you both satisfied and yet wanting more at the same time.

Overall this was one amazing evening, both Raveneye and SKAM were on fire and I can’t recommend these two bands highly enough. Go and see for yourselves. Dead Shed Jokers were a good local choice to get the evening underway.
