The Black Heart, Camden 17.11.16

Last night, The Black Heart, Camden played host to the gorgeous and hard rocking Tequila Mockingbyrd, as they opened for SKAM. If you have yet to hear Tequila Mockingbyrd, I urge you to check them out without delay! Opening with 'Money Tree' they quickly made an impact upon the room.

Ok, let me start with a confession, I struggle with female vocalists, always have done. Personally, I like to listen to deep gravelly tones, backed up with an awesome amount of vocal power. Over the years, there have been few female vocalists that have made it into my music collection, Lzzy Hale being one. However, I am so excited that last night I found another. Estelle Artois (Lead Vocals / Guitar) is incredible!! She absolutely nails every song! She has everything that I look for in a vocalist and so much more. What a powerhouse! Song after song, filled with awesome riffs, and choruses that you will be humming to yourself long after the gig, Tequila Mockingbyrd are on the money!!

They have recently relocated to the UK from Melbourne, Australia - and what an absolute gain for us that is!!!

Tequila Mockingbyrd are a Rock / Punk / Pop band, and joining Estelle in the mix are Jess Reily (Bass & Backing Vocals) and Josie O'Toole (Drums & Backing Vocals). Hard rocking and incredible musicians, all absolute dynamos! That said, Josie is a sight to behold, I don't think I have ever seen anyone smack the hell out of a drum kit like she can! Jess is a phenomenal bassist, and as she loses herself into the music, you can't help but follow suit.

These ladies, have attitude in abundance when performing. Their music is definitely foot stomping material. They really bring a party to a venue! They growl, they snarl, and together create the sweetest sounds. Playing tracks from their forthcoming album 'Fight & Flight', you know they mean business and I have no doubt that they will achieve all that they wish to. I cannot wait to see them again in a couple of weeks time! Tequila Mockingbyrd chose to close with the single 'I Smell Rock N Roll' from their forthcoming album, get this on iTunes now! Fantastic track!

Welcome to the UK ladies, we are VERY pleased to have you!
