With the breaking news that the opening support band DEPARTED have sadly had to indeed depart this tour, the pre-gig chatter is geared towards the now main support band THE BRINK.

Recently signed to Frontiers, THE BRINK are now stablemates to the likes of Inglorious, Wayward Sons, Toseland and Doomsday Outlaw, amongst others, who are currently part of the resurgence of rock and metal music. The Corporation is full and THE BRINK needs to deliver.

With no announcement or fanfare, this five-piece band climb onto the stage, plug in, take a breath and then explode into a feverish set of solid rock songs. Lead singer, Tom Quick, is celebrating his birthday and is on top form as are fellow band members Lexi Laine – Lead Guitar, Izzy Trixx – Rhythm Guitar, Gaz Connor – Bass and Drummer – Davide Drake Bocci.

The sound is solid, no-nonsense, riff-based metal, well-rehearsed, well-received and appreciated with loud applause from the packed out room. There’s even a small contingent of fans who gleefully sing along to almost the whole set, which is great to see for a support band.

THE BRINK has an impending album release at some point in the near future. If it’s as good as their live performance tonight their stablemates at Frontiers need to keep an eye out.

Hailing from Germany, THE NEW ROSES have quickly established themselves as a serious rock band to be reckoned with. Extensive touring, especially throughout Europe, has brought them to the notice of many new fans with The Corporation in Sheffield holding a house-full of them tonight. Welcome to the “One More For The Road Tour 2018”.

THE NEW ROSES hit the stage and the crowd simply erupt as they burst into the first song of the night. They engage quickly with the crowd in an almost sublime manner, grabbing everyone’s attention. The band are simply on fire in every way and instantly have the crowd in the palms of their hands.

Musically this band is one seriously polished machine, able to pound its way through heavy guitar riffed rock music to the subtlety of twin acoustic guitars. Lead singer, Timmy Rough, places his unique vocal talent over his own rhythm guitar, the lead guitar of Norman Bites, Hardy’s growling bass lines and drummer, Urban Berz pounding beats, to create a sonic delight of rock music.

The sound is bright, clear and has the backing vocals of the entire crowd at times with the singalong to ‘Life Ain’t Easy (For A Boy With Long Hair)’ being one of the interaction highlights of the evening.

The setlist is drawn from THE NEW ROSES’ three current albums and there is no weak song anywhere to be had. Timmy and the band also take time to thank the New Generation Superstars, who are VIP guests tonight, for their help on recent tours.

THE NEW ROSES have risen quickly and deservedly through the musical ranks with their exceptional style of rock. A whole host of their songs could and should become stadium anthems, should their rise and stock continue. For now, though THE NEW ROSES will continue to fill venues, such as the Corporation, to enthusiastic and loyal crowds who seem to hang onto every note of every song.

There are a few UK dates left on this current tour, check them out via their social media and catch them if you can.
