It was the turn of London's Shepherds Bush Empire to play host to The Cadillac Three and Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown last night as they hit the UK with their 'Don't Forget The Whiskey' Tour.
Taking to the stage first, Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown, a blues-rock band from Nashville, TN. No strangers to the dynamics of larger venues, most recently touring with AC/DC in the UK earlier this year, Shepherds Bush Empire must have felt like an intimate venue for them. So, let's start with Tyler Bryant, an accomplished guitarist and singer, he began learning guitar at the age of 6. By the age of 11 he was already jamming with adults, and by the age of 15 played Eric Clapton's Crossroads Festival. It was clear from a young age that he was destined for stardom. He eventually joined with some friends and 'The Shakedown' was born; Caleb Crosby on drums, Noah Denney on Bass and Graham Whitford on Guitar. Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown have supported the likes of Aerosmith, B.B. King & Eric Clapton, to name but a few, on their tours. They released their first full length album 'Wild Child' in 2013, followed most recently by EP 'The Wayside' in 2015.
Since I booked tickets for this gig back in the summer, I have been listening to Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown, as hadn't come across them prior to the announcement of their supporting The Cadillac Three. I instantly loved what I was hearing upon listening to 'The Wayside', and soon went searching for their other releases. They conjure up the most perfect mix of roots infused melodic tunes, and huge meaty riffs, along with, and in their own words, "Alternative psychedelic mystique". There is certainly something mystical about this group of talented and soulful individuals. They have talent that is way beyond their years, and yet it sits comfortably with them. The live 'experience' of Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown is one I urge you all to grab with both hands! They are raw, emotive and passionate, and have the ability to evoke the same within you. They will give you their all as they perform for you, and I promise you will be disappointed when their set ends. I could listen to them for hours. Each band member, entertaining and lively in their own right. The crowd of riff hungry fans absolutely adored them, the majority of which danced and foot stomped to the, at times, heavy rock beats. People sang, people cheered, and obviously Gaynor and I did our best to scream 'Woohooo'. Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown without a doubt started the party last night, and I for one, cannot wait to party with them again.
