Hailing from Newcastle with big riffs, bigger solos and a reputation for powerful, mesmerising live performances; we caught up with the new rockers about town 'Tomorrow Is Lost'. With their debut single due for release on 28th October, and having just supported Inglorious at their show in Newcastle, this is a band you need to have on your radar!
By Samantha Lloyd
Where did you all meet and when did you form TOMORROW IS LOST?
Cass King and Joe Mac were in a previous band together which came to an end in late 2016. They had been looking to form a new band and recruited Adam and Andrew in January 2017. Ryan would later join us in July 2017 - completing the line-up that you see today...so we're about as new as it gets!
We played our very first gig together as a 4 piece in February this year at the O2 Academy in Newcastle, and Ryan has been with us for a couple of months now...it's been a crazy start for sure - but the best is definitely yet to come!
I really like the cover for ‘Elastic Heart’, what were the reasons behind choosing this song?
The idea for the Elastic Heart cover came from Adam...and I can't quite remember how we agreed on it. Certainly as we started putting the arrangement together we realised we'd taken on quite a song; but it's had such a hugely successful response online - we must have done something right with it!
What has the reaction been like to the cover when you’ve performed it at gigs?
In addition to the online response, Elastic Heart always goes down a storm at gigs. 95% of people who come to see us at the minute are seeing us for the first time, so we guess it's nice for everyone to have something in our set that they might recognise. And even though some people might not be too into Sia generally speaking - we definitely gave it a TIL touch...
You have the debut single ‘Insane’ due to launch on the 28th October, what’s the inspiration behind the track?
Insane is very special to us...lyrically the song I think will be interpreted by listeners as being quite dark, but it forms only one part of a much bigger story, and a message of hope and survival is about to unfold! It's a fantastical song which gave birth to a much wider concept for the band and for what we have coming next. Insane is the first of 3 'Shadowman Singles' which will be released between now and Spring/Summer 2018...

Who produced the single and are you happy with the finished product?
The single was produced by Dave Boothroyd and recorded at Reel Recording Studios in York. The song has ended up being just the way that we always hoped it would be. From the brooding intro into that explosive finish - we couldn't be happier with how it turned out and we can't wait to hear what everyone thinks about our first offering of original material!
How would you describe your style of music?
We've been described as being for fans of The Pretty Reckless, Halestorm and Alter Bridge. I'd say that's a pretty accurate summary (and hugely flattering); but it has to be said that we never started Tomorrow Is Lost with the view of fitting into any particular genre or achieving any specific sound. Musically we're all from very different musical backgrounds - and it's almost as fate would have that we just so happen to make something that sounds pretty awesome (in our opinion anyway!) and we're having a huge amount of fun in the process too!
Where do you gather your inspiration from for writing songs? Is there a particular group or artist who has influenced your music style?
I think there are probably far, far, far too many to mention!
TOMORROW IS LOST is a very young band, it must have come as a bit of a shock to have secured a support slot with Inglorious in Newcastle on Sunday 8th October? How do you all feel about it now? And how did it all come about?
This was undoubtedly a huge opportunity for us, and a huge privilege to be playing alongside two incredible bands after only 8 months together. We were massively excited about the gig, and it has to be said it did not disappoint! We were amazed at just how many people were there to hear our set, and the kind words of support from people since has been truly amazing. From day one we have been lucky enough to have been given fantastic opportunities and to have met some really wonderful people who help us grow, challenge us and push us in the right direction. They all know who they are!
Who are you all listening to presently?
Those Damn Crows, Plastic Thieves, Stone Sour, Iron Maiden (always), KISS, Guns N Roses, Fahran, My Chemical Romance...the list could go on and on!
So what’s next for TOMORROW IS LOST, and when can we expect an EP?
After the Shadowman Singles have dropped - the debut album is expected to be released in late 2018. We're getting ready for a crazy 12 months!
