LAURENCE JONES BAND - I’m Waiting (Single)
LAURENCE JONES has developed a reputation for delivering scintillating blues tracks with powerhouse guitar licks. He has received numerous accolades in the annual British Blues Awards, including Best Young Blues Guitarist and Best Blues Guitarist. Highly regarded on the international stage he has worked with the likes of WALTER TROUT, KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD and JOHNNY WINTER. With a solid and growing fan base this year sees him release another album to add to his considerable back catalogue before extensively touring the UK in November and December.
‘I’m Waiting’ is the first single from the new, soon to be released, self-titled album and is already receiving extensive radio airplay, and finds Laurence and the band in fine form. Featuring Jones’ soulful vocals, the opening has a strong retro feel that immediately engages the listener. Jones is obviously the leader but the rest of the band make a dazzling contribution to this track with a special mention for the excellent keyboard work from Bennet Holland that intertwines with Jones’ guitar to produce a dynamic vibe.
Coming in at just under three minutes, the song focusses on patience and expectancy and throughout we are waiting for the guitar break that will inevitably follow. Right on cue the second half of the track is dominated by a riveting guitar solo that showcases Jones’ fretboard wizardry that, for me, fades a little too early. I could have listened for considerably longer.
LAURENCE JONES has been referred to as the ‘Future of the Blues’ and his growing reputation is further enhanced by this vibrant offering that is a mouth-watering taster for the forthcoming album and tour. ‘Laurence Jones Band’ self - titled album is released on 27th September, 2019.
